Huntington Orthodontist Uses Temporary Anchorage Devices (mini-orthoscrews)
At the orthodontic office of Dr. Gellerman, in Huntington, Long Island, we are committed to providing state-of-the-art technology and techniques.
Mini-orthoscrews are an example of the technology we use that can speed your time in braces.
These small, temporary anchorage devices are used in your mouth to anchor wires where teeth are missing or for more precise movement.
Teeth are generally used as anchors when correcting a malocclusion. In certain conditions, such as severe crowding, patients with missing teeth, patients with severe jaw misalignment, or periodontally compromised patients, insufficient teeth and/or bone level may require orthoscrews to provide anchorage.
Research has shown that mini-orthoscrews will not move during orthodontic force application, and will provide the necessary anchorage for the movement of teeth and facial bones. These implants are so stable that tooth movement can be accomplished easily.
Orthodontic treatment begins with the placement of fixed orthodontic appliances on the natural teeth. Teeth movement occurs efficiently using the temporary implant anchorage provided, and the mini-orthoscrews will be easily removed at the end of treatment.
- What does this mean for you?
- It means faster, more exact results, less time in braces and a reduced need for excessive headgear!
Dr. Inna Gellerman is committed to your care and comfort. At our Huntington orthodontic office we realize that correction of the malocclusion is necessary to have the proper function, hygiene, and esthetics.
Please ask your Long Island orthodontist if temporary mini-orthoscrews are right for your treatment.
