OrthoCAD IQ™

Dr. Gellerman, an orthodontist in Huntington, Long Island, uses new state-of-the-art digital technology system for precise placement of braces

OrthoCAD IQ™ Provides Comfort to Patients, Calls for Fewer Adjustment Visits and Less Time Spent Wearing Braces

Dr. Gellerman is using the OrthoCAD iQ™, a computer guidance technology that assists orthodontists with the optimal placement of braces. This revolutionary system reduces the number of office visits a patient must make during the treatment process and many times reduces the length of time spent wearing braces.

Historically, orthodontists would either position braces manually on each tooth or use dental casts from the laboratory to assist in fitting braces simultaneously to the patient's teeth. However, with both procedures, the orthodontist would merely estimate the appropriate placement using visual judgment. Collectively the OrthoCAD iQ system and the orthodontist ensure a more efficient process with less time and more accuracy than the traditional orthodontic procedure.

The skills of your Huntington orthodontist, combined with OrthoCAD iQ technology, ensure that braces are positioned optimally. First, Dr. Gellerman takes an impression of the teeth. The impression is sent to OrthoCAD's laboratory where a computer generated 3D-model of the patient's mouth is created. With the computer model of the patient's mouth, the orthodontist can fine tune the end result before positioning the actual braces. This step enables Dr. Gellerman to view any number of outcomes to achieve optimal placement resulting in a shorter treatment process for the patient. Once she approves the final orthodontic procedure, Dr. Gellerman transmits the recommendations to the OrthoCAD facility. The OrthoCAD technician integrates the orthodontist's prescription and receives directions from the OrthoCAD iQ system as to where the braces should be placed on the patient's mouth model. Back at the orthodontist's Huntington office, Dr. Gellerman efficiently and comfortably fits the braces on the patient using the customized bracket placement based on the patient's needs.

With OrthoCAD, the benefits are clear: Dr. Gellerman is able to treat her patients more efficiently by reducing the need to reposition the braces during treatment and minimize the adjustments that typically are made toward the end of treatment. The OrthoCAD system promotes efficient management of patient care and treatment progress. The ability of OrthoCAD to show patients how their teeth can look at the end of treatment—to truly visualize an end result—has proven to be a tremendous technological visual for both parents and patients.

With the OrthoCAD iQ system, our Huntington orthodontist delivers a smile patients will enjoy for a long, long time. Ask if OrthoCAD iQ is right for you.
